Leave Policy
Maternity Leave
Pregnant employees who have worked continuously for three months are entitled to 16 weeks of paid leave. 4 weeks must be taken before the birth of the child and 8 weeks after the birth. The employee can use the remaining 4 weeks as she wishes. The employee receives 100% of her average salary during this period, with the employer responsible for the first 8 weeks and social security for the second 8 weeks.

Paternity Leave
Employees who have worked continuously for 3 months are entitled to 2 weeks of paid paternity leave. The 2 weeks must be taken at any time within the 16 weeks of maternity leave. The employee receives his or her normal salary up to a limit of $2,500 per week and Social Security is responsible for this salary.
Parental Leave
Parental leave is not regulated by law in Singapore. However, fathers are entitled to a share of 4 weeks of the mother’s 16 weeks of maternity leave. The employee receives his normal salary, which is capped at $2,500 per week.
Sick Leave
Employees are entitled to up to 14 days of paid sick leave provided they have worked for at least 3 months. The number of sick days depends on the length of service. During sick leave, employees receive 100% of their salary paid by the employer.
Employees are also entitled to paid hospitalization of up to 60 days, provided they have worked for at least 3 months. The number of sick days depends on the length of service. During sick leave, employees receive 100% of their salary from the employer.

Minimum Wage Requirements
There are no minimum wage regulations in Singapore.
Individual Income Tax
Personal income tax ranges from 0% to 22%. Income tax is calculated according to a progressive rate. Several additional factors can affect overall rates, such as: the household status and the number of children.

Payroll Cost
The cost to the employer is generally 17.25% of the employee’s salary
- Pension fund (Central Provident Fund or CPF)* – 17%
- Skill Development Fund – 0.25%
*Please note that 17% is the maximum contribution rate and the amount varies depending on the employee’s citizenship, age and salary. The maximum salary for calculating this contribution is SGD 6,800.

Overtime Pay & Maximum Hours
Standard working hours are up to 9 hours per day or 44 hours per week. The standard working week is Monday to Friday.
Overtime pay is not mandatory and is considered part of the employee’s salary.
Termination
Termination Requirements
Dismissals must take into account complex rules and the regulations of the country in which an employee is employed. Off-boarding is always carried out by the employer with the main participants. It may include ad hoc fees as well as required or recommended steps in certain termination cases.
Terminations in Singapore can be complex. In Singapore, employers cannot terminate at will and the termination must be for a valid reason.
Compliant terminations are:
- Voluntary by the employee
- By mutual agreement
- Due to the expiry of the contract
- Unilaterally by the employer due to:
- Probation period
- Objective reasons
- Disciplinary dismissal
- Performance due to unsuitability for the position
Notice Period
The minimum notice period is 1 day and increases depending on the length of employment.
- 1 day if the duration of employment is less than 26 weeks
- 1 week if you have been with the company between 26 weeks and 2 years
- 2 weeks if you have been with the company between 2 and 5 years
- 4 weeks if you have served for more than 5 years
Severance for Employees
In Singapore there is no obligation to pay severance pay.
Statutory Time Off
Paid Time Off
Full-time employees are entitled to 7 days of paid time off (PTO) per year. The PTO entitlement grows monthly by 0.58 days per month. Employees are entitled to annual leave after 3 months of work. For each year of service, employees are entitled to one additional day until they reach 14 days.

Employment Contract Details
The contracts must be written in English and can be bilingual. They must be in writing and signed by both parties.
A contract must contain:
- Surname
- Start date
- Length of employment

- Conditions for Termination
Probation Period
A probationary period is not required. The minimum probationary period is 3 months and the maximum probationary period is 6 months.
