Types of Overtime
IceHrm provides two methods for managing overtime in your organization.
Overtime Management Methods
Request-Based Overtime
Employees submit overtime requests for approval before or after working extra hours. This method provides better budget control and documentation.
Attendance-Based Overtime
The system automatically calculates overtime from attendance records. Hours worked beyond the standard workday threshold are flagged as overtime.
Default Overtime Threshold
IceHrm considers 8 hours as a standard working day. If an employee works more than 8 hours, the additional time is considered overtime.
Adjusting the Overtime Threshold
To modify the overtime threshold for your organization:
- Navigate to System -> Settings -> Attendance
- Find Attendance: Overtime Start Hour
- Modify the value according to your organizational needs
- Save the settings
Choosing the Right Method
Use Request-Based When:
- Strict overtime budget control is needed
- Pre-approval is required by policy
- Overtime work must be documented and justified
Use Attendance-Based When:
- Work hours vary significantly
- Administrative burden should be minimal
- Standard overtime rules apply uniformly
