Meaning is more important than efficiency when it comes to deep work.  People who focus intently have a deeper connection with their art and produce results that make them feel proud and satisfied.  Additionally, it lessens the sense of being "scattered" and overwhelmed all the time, replacing it with a sense of success and control.
