entitled to 70 days of paid vacation. The 3 days must be taken before the birth of the child. The employee receives 100% of his salary during this period and the employer is responsible for this compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parental Leave<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Parental leave is not regulated by law in Jordan. However, employees may be entitled to maternity and paternity leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sick Leave<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees are entitled to up to 14 days of paid sick leave, 100% paid by the employer. Workers are also entitled to an additional 14 days if they are in hospital. The employee is entitled to 50% payment of the additional sick leave from the employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Pay &amp; Tax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum Wage Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Jordan, the monthly minimum wage varies depending on whether the worker is a national of the country or not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>260 JOD per month, for Jordanian workers  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>230 JOD per month, for other nationalities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Individual Income Tax<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Individual income tax is between 5% and 30%. However, the working week can be extended to 6 days and 48 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The normal working week lasts from Sunday to Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Termination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Termination Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Terminations in Jordan can be complicated. In Jordan, employers cannot terminate at their own discretion outside of the probationary period and the termination must be for a valid reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compliant terminations include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Voluntary by the employee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By mutual agreement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unilaterally by the employer due to:<br>1. Probation period<br>2. Objective reasons<br>3. Disciplinary dismissal<br>4. Performance due to unsuitability for the position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the contract expires<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notice Period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The notice period is 30 days. The type of notice determines the type of notice required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Severance for Employees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount of the severance payment depends on the type of contract, the reasons for termination and the duration of the employment relationship. Employees with a permanent contract are entitled, upon termination of the employment relationship, to a monthly salary for each year in which they have worked, as well as to a pro-rata payment for fractions of a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no severance payment during the probationary period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Statutory Time Off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paid Time Off<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Full-time employees are entitled to 14 working days of paid time off per year. The number of PTO days and the amount of hearing varies depending on the length of service. Employees are entitled to annual leave in the first year based on the months they have worked.
