vacation. During this period, social security pays 100% of the employee&#8217;s average salary for the previous three months, up to a maximum of 2,000 GEL for the entire period of maternity leave (this amount is subject to change).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paternity Leave<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees are entitled to at least 12 weeks of unpaid parental leave until the child is 5 years old. This leave can be taken in whole or in part, but may not be less than 2 weeks per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sick Leave<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Both full-time and part-time employees in Georgia are entitled to 40 consecutive calendar days or 60 calendar days within a six-month period of paid sick leave. The employer pays sick leave at 100% of the employee&#8217;s regular salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Pay &amp; Tax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum Wage Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The monthly minimum wage is 20 GEL per month and has not been adjusted in the last 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average minimum wage is around 1,300 GEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Individual Income Tax<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Income tax is levied at a uniform rate of 20%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Payroll Cost<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The employer costs are usually estimated at 2% of the employee&#8217;s salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Accumulated pension program &#8211; 2.0%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overtime Pay &amp; Maximum Hours<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The standard working hours are 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. The normal working week lasts from Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pay for overtime is mandatory. Hours that go beyond the standard working hours agreed in the employment contract are considered overtime. Employees receive 125% of the hourly rate for overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Termination<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Termination Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dismissals must take into account complex rules and the regulations of the country in which an employee is employed. Off-boarding is always carried out by the employer with the main participants. It may include ad hoc fees as well as mandatory or recommended steps for specific termination cases.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terminations in Georgia can be complex. In Georgia, employers cannot terminate at their own discretion outside of the probationary period, and the termination must be for just cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proper terminations include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Voluntary termination by the employee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unilateral termination by the employer due to:<br>1. Probation period<br>2. Objective reasons<br>3. Disciplinary dismissal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By expiry of the contract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notice Period<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The notice period depends on the type of termination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Termination for good cause &#8211; 30 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancellation &#8211; 30 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Probationary period &#8211; no notice required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Severance for Employees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Georgia, all employees who are laid off are entitled to severance pay. The severance payment amounts to 1 month of the basic salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To protect you from unforeseen financial risks arising from dismissals, IceHrm applies a severance pay provision in all employment contracts in this country.
